I met Paul at the home and garden show in February, 2018. After getting multiple bids for a deck rebuild w/ permanent roof structure, the design and use of steel was far and away superior than all other project bids.
The final product came out wonderfully and we couldnt be happier with the deck we now have! Paul was easy to work with and always kept me in the loop with project status and communicated all issues that came up. Can’t say enough good things about the overall experience.

We moved into our home seven years ago, knowing that our back deck would eventually need to be replaced. We had the house painted a couple of years later and then, in the spring of 2020, decided to have the deck completely replaced because there were some problems with the structural beams that supported the deck.
We decided to go to the Garden and Home Show down at the Denver Convention Center to see what we could find. We spoke to several local Deck builders as we walked through the exhibits – and then we saw a sign that said “Steel is the Real Deal.” That was our introduction to “Decked Out” and their all-steel, maintenance-free decks. We met with Paul and Dawn and really liked what they had to say about their business and their decks. We had 3 or 4 deck builders come out to tell us what they could do and give us estimates, but when we considered them, we decided to use “Decked Out” because once we paid for the deck, we wouldn’t have any further expenses for upkeep or repairs.
They had built a deck there at the show and we could see how great it would look on our house. The maintenance-free part was really attractive, as was the lifetime warranty. We really liked the black, custom, powder coated metal railing with low-voltage LED cap lights under each rail post that are on a programable timer. They also installed French Doors to replace the typical metal sliding doors installed by the builder. That enables us to have a 6×7 foot opening to easily put furniture on the deck.
It’s been over two years now and about the only thing we do for the deck is take a rag and wash the railings off when spring gets here and sweep the leaves off onto the yard when they fall in autumn. We don’t even shovel the snow off in the winter because, being all steel, we don’t need to be concerned about the weight of the snow, plus the deck faces east and it gets full morning sun so the snow usually melts within a few days.
We think that hiring “Decked Out” to build our deck is one of the best decisions we’ve made. Paul, Dawn, and their crew were very easy to work with, did what they told us they would, were always right on time, and were very careful of our property when they came to do the work, and their pricing was very reasonable and competitive.

Paul had a great display at the Garden Show and it was easy to understand the quality and durability of steel framed decking. Also in the display was the “dry below” system which I chose to use on my raised deck over a walk-out basement. The finishing of the space below the high deck creates wonderful extra square footage for outdoor living space as well as the ability to add proper lighting and protect the lower windows from drips and splashes from an open deck system. Then came the time to build After some problems with the county Paul and his crew got started. He always called to let me know when he was coming and the only time he was not on the job was the day the crew was painting the ceiling which made us very happy. Also the patio looks as good today as it looked when it was finished in 2020. I would have Paul build me another without other bids if if we should ever move and need one.

To show the pride Paul takes in his work, he and his wife came on on a windy Sunday to put down roofing paper to protect the roof from the rain storm that was coming the next day. We would use Paul again without getting other bids his work impressed us that much.
When we purchased our house in 2016, I knew our deck was in bad shape and had been shoddily repaired. Over a few years, it became more “spongy” under foot traffic to a point I felt it was unsafe. After getting a couple of bids for mostly wood-based framing, I had the good fortune of driving by a deck Paul built over the course of a couple of weeks and was struck by the quality and craftsmanship. Paul’s bid was very comparable, and even lower than several of the bids I received from contractors using mostly wood.
Paul and his team did a fantastic job of executing on all of our design asks. We added a gabled roof patio cover which has allowed us to take advantage of our beautiful views of Daniels Gate Park and the greenbelt we back to during all 4 seasons. The powder coated iron railing ties seamlessy into it to give a nice finished look. With our deck being about 10 feet above ground and occupying >450 sq ft, I wanted to take advantage of all of the space below without rain/snowmelt falling through. The dry below construction has thus far had no issues, and the finished wood ceiling with LED lights really pops! I also wanted to minimize view obstructions from support posts, which is much easier to do with steel than with wood. Paul worked with me to retain, but conceal, existing gas lines on the main deck for grill and fire pit. We couldn’t be happier and I’ve had contractor friends comment on how solid the construction is.
True to his word on lifetime warranty–he’s come out to address a couple of minor issues, even 2 years after the deck was finished.

A friend referred us to Paul to design a cover for our large patio and he was the third bid we had for this project. The other two contractors could not figure out how to tie the cover into our house even though my husband explained what he envisioned and Paul “got it” right away and together they designed a beautiful cover with two different elevations. He used beautiful lumber and 4×6 rough hewn posts with rustic looking brackets and OMG, it is beautiful! We get many compliments from everyone who sees it and enjoy the extra living space in the summer, and my husband is able to park one of his collector cars under it in the winter. What we liked about Decked Out is that they had a turnkey price that included everything from the deck, stairs, railing and lighting. Some of the other companies gave a price for the deck, but stairs, railings and lighting were all extra additional costs. When we factored in everything Decked Out was almost half the price of the competition.
Another reason we picked Decked Out is that they used steel frame and Deckorators decking. This meant we would have a maintenance free deck. With our deck from Decked Out all we would have to do is clean the deck with soap water and we would be good to go for another summer. Some of the wood frame decking companies also gave us a maintenance plan, which would have been additional cost per year for striping, sanding, and re-staining every year. Our deck is above the back patio, so we liked how Decked Out finished underneath the deck with dry below drainage system and wood pine so we could utilize our patio even if it was raining outside. As a follow up it has been three years since our deck was installed and the deck still looks as good as it did when it was installed in 2019.
Paul does it all. We had a great experience designing and building our deck with DeckedOut. There were at least 3 different “companies” that couldn’t see our vision and wanted to build a standard cookie-cutter square deck. Those companies had stairs for days on their design. But Paul worked with our sketches, refined what was possible and made it happen. I would say the permitting process in the cities in and around Denver are never easy. But the construction is fun to watch and we were surprised how fast it went up once we got down to it. If you don’t want a standard wooden deck, this is your place. Steel is the Real Deal!
Our deck has a southern exposure and gets a lot of abuse from the sun. I was tired of sanding and staining our deck every year. I saw Paul’s display at the home and garden show. We had Paul and his team vault our 300 sq ft patio that had a false ceiling up to the roof line giving us almost 4 extra feet of headroom at the highest point. In addition, we added in lighting, ceiling fans, electrical for a TV, heaters, and outdoor speakers. Paul was fantastic to work with throughout the process from design, demo, construction and finish. Just finished our third project with DeckedOut, another success. Paul built steel framed stairs to a garden level basement entrance. It was a completely custom design fitting into existing space between railroad ties and a brick wall. Paul is very precise and committed to quality. He added lighting on the stair steps for safety and aesthetics.

He is very easy to work with; he and Dawn are both very good communicators of the process, and most of all, he is there every day, treating your project with careful attention to detail. I am so pleased. We have two more projects lined up already!
We met Paul at the home and garden show in Denver and decided to get a bid. We also got bids from others but decided to go with Paul because of his steel framing which ended up being the best move we could have made. With the steel we have no posts in the middle of our porch.
Then came the time to build After some problems with the county Paul and his crew got started. He always called to let me know when he was coming and the only time he was not on the job was the day the crew was painting the ceiling which made us very happy. Also the patio looks as good today as it looked when it was finished in 2020. I would have Paul build me another without other bids if if we should ever move and need one.
We met Paul at the 2020 Home and Garden show and set up an appointment to get an estimate for our new back porch. After getting a few more estimates we decided on Decked Out and in our opinion it was the best decision we could have made.
Paul always kept us informed as to what was going on with phone calls until the worked started then he was here every day with his crew. Paul and his crew were very professional and worked hard to complete the job.
To show the pride Paul takes in his work, he and his wife came on on a windy Sunday to put down roofing paper to protect the roof from the rain storm that was coming the next day. We would use Paul again without getting other bids his work impressed us that much.
When we purchased our house in 2016, I knew our deck was in bad shape and had been shoddily repaired. Over a few years, it became more “spongy” under foot traffic to a point I felt it was unsafe. After getting a couple of bids for mostly wood-based framing, I had the good fortune of driving by a deck Paul built over the course of a couple of weeks and was struck by the quality and craftsmanship. Paul’s bid was very comparable, and even lower than several of the bids I received from contractors using mostly wood.
Paul and his team did a fantastic job of executing on all of our design asks. We added a gabled roof patio cover which has allowed us to take advantage of our beautiful views of Daniels Gate Park and the greenbelt we back to during all 4 seasons. The powder coated iron railing ties seamlessy into it to give a nice finished look. With our deck being about 10 feet above ground and occupying >450 sq ft, I wanted to take advantage of all of the space below without rain/snowmelt falling through. The dry below construction has thus far had no issues, and the finished wood ceiling with LED lights really pops! I also wanted to minimize view obstructions from support posts, which is much easier to do with steel than with wood. Paul worked with me to retain, but conceal, existing gas lines on the main deck for grill and fire pit. We couldn’t be happier and I’ve had contractor friends comment on how solid the construction is.
True to his word on lifetime warranty–he’s come out to address a couple of minor issues, even 2 years after the deck was finished.
I make it a point to do my due diligence on any major home project by interviewing multiple contractors and getting quotes from all. Our deck replacement project was no different, which is how I met Paul and Dawn.
Our project involved replacing a 29 year old wooden deck – a second floor walkout, that was falling apart and becoming unsafe. Paul and Dawn immediately impressed me with their knowledge and friendliness and I felt comfortable they could do the work.
Equally important, I was particularly intrigued with the idea of replacing the never ending upkeep of a wooden deck with a low maintenance metal frame and composite decking materials. A friend referred us to Paul to design a cover for our large patio and he was the third bid we had for this project. The other two contractors could not figure out how to tie the cover into our house even though my husband explained what he envisioned and Paul “got it” right away and together they designed a beautiful cover with two different elevations. He used beautiful lumber and 4×6 rough hewn posts with rustic looking brackets and OMG, it is beautiful! We get many compliments from everyone who sees it and enjoy the extra living space in the summer, and my husband is able to park one of his collector cars under it in the winter. Our deck is needing work next (new railing) and we would not think of using anyone else. Paul and his wife, Dawn were a dream to work with and always showed up when expected, friendly, and by the time our project was done, they felt like family. Highly recommend this craftsman!

Paul did a very good job on our deck. He showed up when he said he would and did a very professional job. He kept us informed about the order for the costum railings and costum staircase and installed them as soon as they arrived. The spiral staircase is great. Saves a lot of space.
We first met Paul at the 2018 Home and Garden Show. This was almost 5 years ago now. We needed to replace our old wooden deck with something that could withstand Colorado’s intense weather and be free of maintenance. Paul gave us a very competitive quote and built us a deck that still looks new today. We are very pleased with the construction and the overall look. We had a portion of the deck waterproofed to cover and shelter the downstairs patio, which is still working well today. Decked Out made short work of our old wooden/rotting deck and replaced it with real gem. The new deck is great and we frequently enjoy using it as a family. We even shovel it for winter use.
We meet Paul and Dawn at the home show in fall of 2019. We were looking at many different deck companies to replace our old deck that was above our back patio.
What we liked about Decked Out is that they had a turnkey price that included everything from the deck, stairs, railing and lighting. Some of the other companies gave a price for the deck, but stairs, railings and lighting were all extra additional costs. When we factored in everything Decked Out was almost half the price of the competition.
Another reason we picked Decked Out is that they used steel frame and Deckorators decking. This meant we would have a maintenance free deck. With our deck from Decked Out all we would have to do is clean the deck with soap water and we would be good to go for another summer. Some of the wood frame decking companies also gave us a maintenance plan, which would have been additional cost per year for striping, sanding, and re-staining every year. Our deck is above the back patio, so we liked how Decked Out finished underneath the deck with dry below drainage system and wood pine so we could utilize our patio even if it was raining outside. As a follow up it has been three years since our deck was installed and the deck still looks as good as it did when it was installed in 2019.
Paul does it all. We had a great experience designing and building our deck with DeckedOut. There were at least 3 different “companies” that couldn’t see our vision and wanted to build a standard cookie-cutter square deck. Those companies had stairs for days on their design. But Paul worked with our sketches, refined what was possible and made it happen. I would say the permitting process in the cities in and around Denver are never easy. But the construction is fun to watch and we were surprised how fast it went up once we got down to it. If you don’t want a standard wooden deck, this is your place. Steel is the Real Deal!
Our deck has a southern exposure and gets a lot of abuse from the sun. I was tired of sanding and staining our deck every year. I saw Paul’s display at the home and garden show. He replaced our old wooden deck with a steel support, composite top and iron railing. Paul did an excellent job designing and installing the deck. It has been 3 years since it was installed and I have not had to perform any maintenance with the exception of hosing it off once in a while. I would highly recommend Decked Out for your project.
We had Paul and his team vault our 300 sq ft patio that had a false ceiling up to the roof line giving us almost 4 extra feet of headroom at the highest point. In addition, we added in lighting, ceiling fans, electrical for a TV, heaters, and outdoor speakers. Paul was fantastic to work with throughout the process from design, demo, construction and finish. Just finished our third project with DeckedOut, another success. Paul built steel framed stairs to a garden level basement entrance. It was a completely custom design fitting into existing space between railroad ties and a brick wall. Paul is very precise and committed to quality. He added lighting on the stair steps for safety and aesthetics.
The staircase is a great improvement that will not have to be re-placed. Do it once, do it right. Call Paul!
